Daffodil Girl

Spring

When I was a little girl I would know it was Spring when I saw tulips flowering in the garden: I still consider them  my “special” flowers.

Then I grew up. And I forgot.

Until I had kids. And found myself in London. Now Spring is in the air when the yellow daffodils brighten up the never-ending grey of the last bit of winter, when we’ve all had enough.

Keiki was born only a month after we moved into this house and I barely knew what was happening outside these walls as I was busy sorting out as much as possible before she came along. A couple of days after she was born the Easter holidays ended and we took Keala to nursery. That is when I saw a huge daffodil patch just outside the crescent we live in: an instant shot of happiness.

This photo was taken mid March this year. We were tired of winter and went to look for daffodils and photos because we needed to kill time while Geneva the cat was at the vet’s.

So now Spring is tulips in the kitchen for me and daffodils everywhere for the girls.
